Position Overview
This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC machines while ensuring precision and efficiency in production. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to support and guide junior machinists.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate 2- and 3-axis CNC machines (vertical, horizontal, and turning centers)
Adjust feeds, speeds, and perform basic G-code edits
Troubleshoot machining issues (dimensional and surface finish) and implement corrections
Recommend process improvements and program optimizations
Design and build simple fixtures (soft jaws, plates, etc.)
Monitor tool wear and suggest tooling improvements
Perform inspections using precision measuring tools (excluding complex 3D surfaces)
Train and support less experienced machinists
Maintain accurate job status updates and documentation
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 5 years of machining experience (4+ years on CNC equipment)
Strong experience with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Mazak, or Haas
Ability to set up, run, and inspect multi-axis jobs
Proficient with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
Solid understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
Ability to read blueprints and follow technical instructions in English
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform light to medium work (up to 50 lbs occasionally)
