Job Overview:

This role requires experience with vertical and horizontal lathes, milling machines, turrets, and grinders. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, oversee work processes, and train other employees in machining functions and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, including entering programming instructions, setting tool registers, offsets, and calculating machining parameters.
  • Perform complex machining operations on ferrous and non-ferrous materials using both manual and CNC equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders to plan machining operations.
  • Use various measuring tools to verify part accuracy and ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Perform first-run inspections and adjust equipment as needed to maintain quality standards.
  • Identify, deploy, and maintain appropriate inserts, fixtures, and tooling for machining operations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on machinery, troubleshoot malfunctions, and report repair needs.
  • Maintain clear communication between shifts, documenting actions and irregularities.
  • Evaluate machining procedures and recommend improvements for efficiency and precision.
  • Maintain a personal inventory of essential tools for CNC and manual machining setups.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience.
  • Proficiency in G-Code programming.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and geometric tolerances.

Preferred:

  • Experience with manual machining.
  • Knowledge of advanced machining processes and tooling techniques.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move materials as needed for machining operations.
  • Standing for extended periods while operating equipment.
  • Compliance with all safety and quality protocols in a manufacturing environment.
