POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for a skilled CNC Machinist who can operate both CNC lathes and mills to produce precision components from print. This is a hands-on machinist role — not an operator role. The right candidate sets up their own jobs, reads and interprets engineering drawings, makes offset adjustments, and takes ownership of part quality from first article through final inspection.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set up and operate CNC lathes and/or milling machines from engineering drawings and job travelers

• Perform tool changes, offset adjustments, and in-process dimensional inspection

• Read and interpret GD&T, tolerances, and surface finish requirements on engineering prints

• Conduct first-article and in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and CMM (if applicable)

• Identify and correct toolpath or programming issues to maintain part quality and cycle efficiency

• Maintain accurate job records, traveler documentation, and material traceability

• Communicate proactively with supervisors on job status, tooling needs, and quality issues

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with shop safety standards

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 3 years of experience operating CNC lathes and/or mills in a production or job-shop environment

• Demonstrated ability to hold tolerances of ±0.001" or tighter

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T callouts

• Experience with offset adjustments and basic program editing at the control (Fanuc, Haas, or equivalent)

• Ability to select appropriate feeds, speeds, and tooling for the material and operation

• Experience with standard inspection tools — micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, depth mics

• NIMS credential(s) in CNC Turning or CNC Milling a plus — not required

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
