CNC Machinist
Location: Middlefield, CT
Pay Range: up to $30/hr potentially more
Employment Type: Full-Time
**Shift: **Mon – Friday 7a - 4:30p
Position Summary
Essential Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC milling and turning machines to manufacture aerospace components.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, work instructions, and process sheets.
- Select and install tooling, fixtures, and machine offsets as required.
- Verify dimensions and quality using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and height gauges.
- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Make machine adjustments and offset changes to maintain dimensional accuracy.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvements.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and housekeeping activities.
- Work closely with quality, engineering, and production personnel to meet customer delivery schedules.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3 years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with CNC mills and/or lathes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of machining practices, cutting tools, feeds, and speeds.
- Proficiency using precision inspection equipment.
- Ability to hold close tolerances and maintain high-quality standards.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace manufacturing experience.
- Experience machining aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and other aerospace-grade materials.
- Knowledge of AS9100 quality standards.
- CNC programming and setup experience.
- Completion of a machining apprenticeship, vocational training, or technical school program.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and handling of materials and tooling.
- Ability to work safely around manufacturing equipment.
