CNC Machinist (CNC Lathe + CNC Mill) — Lebanon, PA

Description:
- Cannonball Recruiting is hiring multipleCNC Machinistsin the Lebanon, PA area with experience running both CNC lathes and CNC mills (and/or strong manual machining background). In this role, you’ll set up, operate, and inspect precision components from castings, bar stock, and plate while working from blueprints, routings, and work instructions. The ideal candidate can hold tight tolerances, perform in-process inspection, and make routine CNC adjustments at the machine.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC lathes and CNC mills to produce parts to print and customer specifications
- Perform set-ups including workholding, tool selection, locating/zeroing, and verifying first-piece accuracy
- Make routine CNC adjustments such as tool offsets, wear offsets, and minor program edits (G/M code familiarity)
- Machine parts to close tolerances (up to ±0.0002 in. where required)
- Conduct in-process and final inspections using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges, height gauges, etc.)
- Read and interpret blueprints, including tolerance callouts; GD&T knowledge preferred
- Assist with improvements to fixtures, jigs, tooling, and work holdingto improve quality and repeatability
- Complete required shop paperwork/documentation (travelers/routers, inspection checks, quantities, scrap, etc.)
- Perform routine machine care and basic preventative maintenance (cleaning, lubrication checks, reporting issues)
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area and follow all PPE/safety policies
- Use material-handling equipment as assigned (may include forklift/overhead crane/pallet jack; training or certification per site policy)
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required (technical school/associate degree preferred)
- Experience setting up and operating both CNC mills and CNC lathes
- Ability to read and interpret prints and work instructions
- Proficiency with precision inspection tools and documenting measurements
- Understanding of speeds/feeds, tooling selection, and work holding
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision and communicating clearly in English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience machining from castings and bar stock
- Familiarity with GD&T
- Experience designing or assisting with fixtures/jigs
- Exposure to manual machining (helpful but not required)
Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
- Shop/manufacturing environment (noise, coolants/oils, metal chips)
- Standing/walking for extended periods; lifting/moving materials as needed (often up to 50 lbs with assistance/equipment)
