PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of a supervisor and/or experienced machinist:
- Produce quality parts on CNC machines, including but not limited to lathes and milling machines, in a timely, safe, and efficient manner
- Operate CNC machines, perform setup changes, and conduct first article inspections on production runs
- Load parts using overhead lifting equipment; prove tapes; operate controls; set offsets; perform simple program edits; deburr parts; and inspect finished items for quality conformance
- Identify potential issues before production begins. Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and adjust controls as necessary
- Read blueprints, use precision measuring instruments, and interpret job orders to determine part dimensions, tolerances, and required tooling
- Maintain current knowledge of fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and appropriate cutting tools
- Prove out new CNC programs and make simple edits on one or more numerically controlled machines
- Keep machines and work areas clean and orderly; perform basic preventative maintenance
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Comply with all NOV Company and HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) policies and procedures
FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate forklifts as needed
- Operate overhead cranes for material handling
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Verify all quality documents and required paperwork are present before starting work
- Complete dimensional reports and machine logs for all machined parts
- Use forklifts and lifting devices to move materials
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, planners, engineers, production control, quality inspectors, and shop personnel
- Wear necessary PPE at all times per Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and task requirements
- Maintain cleanliness and order in work area; conduct basic preventative equipment maintenance
- Lift up to 40 pounds, with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 40 pounds
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor

- Perform CNC machine setup and part quality inspections
- Read and interpret blueprints with a thorough understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Use and understand measurement instruments (e.g., calipers, ID/OD micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, tape measures)
- Understand dimensional tolerances and inspection requirements
- Use various tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, and inserts used on CNC machines
- Possess basic computer knowledge for documentation and program interaction
- Demonstrate advanced understanding of programmed segments and related machining operations
