Job Overview:

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate under minimal supervision to produce high-quality parts using various machines, including but not limited to CNC lathes and milling machines
  • Perform setup, operation, and inspection of parts to ensure conformance to specifications, maintaining close tolerances and optimal efficiency
  • Study and interpret engineering drawings, manuals, specifications, and sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
  • Measure and mark dimensions and reference points on materials or workpieces to guide machining operations
  • Detect equipment malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and make necessary machine adjustments within capability to maintain quality standards; promptly report malfunctions to supervision
  • Assist in solving complex manufacturing challenges and participate in cost reduction and continuous improvement projects
  • Safely operate forklifts and other lifting devices to move parts and materials as required
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, production control, quality assurance, and other personnel to coordinate assignments and resolve machining or quality issues
  • Maintain equipment and work area cleanliness; perform routine preventive maintenance
  • Ensure compliance with all company health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
  • Experience: 2–3 years of hands-on experience operating CNC machinery, including lathes and milling machines, within a heavy manufacturing environment
  • Technical Knowledge: Advanced ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, with a strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Mathematical Skills: Proficient in basic and applied mathematics, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, geometry, and algebra, for material fabrication and dimensional calculations

PHYSICAL/NON-PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and communicate effectively through speech and hearing
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds on occasion
  • Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • While performing job duties, the employee may be occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and industrial vehicles
  • The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate
