Job Title: Machinist
Summary:
The Machinist II operates manual and CNC turning and milling equipment, performing setups, tooling changes, and part inspections throughout production. Placement level depends on experience with CNC mills, lathes, and related equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Start up and shut down machines properly.
- Measure parts accurately using precision tools.
- Operate support equipment (tap arms, grinders, sanders, mag drills, overhead cranes).
- Run jobs with minimal scrap and maintain production logs.
- Read and interpret blueprints and job specs.
- Perform setups, inspect first parts, and gather required tooling.
- Load programs and tooling into machines independently.
Education & Experience:
- 3–5 years machining experience required
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Vocational/trade school preferred
- Forklift certification required
Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient in blueprint reading and precision measurement
- Skilled with CNC/manual machines and tooling
- Able to run jobs independently and produce accurate parts
- Familiar with forklifts, cranes, and job tracking systems
- Progressing toward full proficiency in all machining area tasks
