**Job Description:
**
Client is looking for a Machinist Level 2 to support our Machine Shop department. As a member of the Machine Shop department you’ll work in a fast-paced team environment alongside fellow machinists, design engineers, and quality inspectors.
In this job role the machinist will set up, operate, and machine using a variety of machine tools such as lathes (manual), mills (CNC and manual), and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exact tolerances and dimensions.
Machinists will interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determine sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; use a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining; fit and assemble precision parts into mechanical equipment and determine material, parts, and equipment required.
Some machines may be numerically controlled.
Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
**POSITION IS FOR GOLETA, THE CONTRACTORS WILL POSSIBLY GO TO OXNARD BUT NOT OFTEN

**Responsibilities:
**
Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as manual lathes, manual mills, CNC mills and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions
Responsible for quality of the product by performing both in-process and final part inspections using a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments
makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds;
Care and maintenance of the equipment
Assuring tooling and materials readiness
Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
Provide training to others in all aspects of Mill/Lathe equipment setup, operations, and maintenance
Strong interpersonal communication skills with ability to work with others at all levels of the organization

**Basic Qualifications for Machinist Level 2:
**
Familiarity with CNC Mills and machine programming software (example Mastercam, CAMworks, etc.)
Must have experience running manual machines and performing set-ups
Ability to read and interpret production specifications, production diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical specifications (English)
Experience in following written set-up instructions and /or performing unique set-ups
Experience fabricating component parts where set-ups are non-routine and tolerances are difficult to acquire and maintain
Able to work in a standing position for extended time periods
Experience in complex measurements and advanced shop math calculations relative to tolerances, dimensions, tooling, and feeds and speeds
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Machining experience (3+ years)
Able to lift or move a minimum of 35 -50 lbs. for up to 12 hours per day; pushing or pulling 35 -50+ lbs. occasionally throughout the workday
**Preferred Qualifications for Machinist Level 2
**
Experience with Fanuc and HAAS Controllers preferred.
4+ years’ experience on 3 Axis CNC machines, 4 and 5 Axis is a plus
Proficiency in CAM programming with Mastercam preferred.
