Job Overview:

CNC Machinist (Machine Shop)

1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift available. Pay is $21 to $41 per hour, plus $4.00 per hour extra for 2nd or 3rd shift.

Melben is hiring experienced CNC Machinists for a precision machine shop in Eaton, Ohio. The shop makes complex, high precision parts for aerospace, semiconductor, and other demanding industries. The work is tight tolerance and the parts are not simple. If you take pride in holding a good number and a clean finish, you will fit in here.

We want machinists who like tough parts, close tolerances, and working with people who know the trade.

What You Will Do

  • Set up and run CNC machining centers, grinders, and related shop equipment to make precision parts
  • Write, edit, and fine tune CNC programs, set tool offsets, and adjust feeds and speeds to improve quality and cycle time
  • Read and work from blueprints, work instructions, setup sheets, and inspection requirements
  • Do your own setups, tool changes, and adjustments to hold print specs run after run
  • Troubleshoot machining problems with tooling, fixtures, programs, and machines
  • Check your own parts in process using mics, indicators, calipers, CMM, optical, and laser measuring equipment
  • Speak up with ideas for better tooling, fixtures, processes, and paperwork when you see a better way
  • Help build and improve setup sheets and work instructions
  • Share what you know with the other machinists on the floor

What We Are Looking For

  • 5 or more years of CNC machining experience preferred
  • 5 or more years of manual machining experience is a plus
  • Strong experience setting up and running CNC machining centers
  • Able to read blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings
  • Good knowledge of machining practices, tooling, feeds and speeds, and how to make a process better
  • Comfortable making program edits at the control and working through machining problems
  • Able to use precision inspection tools and understand what the numbers are telling you
  • Solid shop math, including everyday use of geometry and trig
  • Able to work on your own and still be a good teammate

Why Work Here

Your experience matters here. You will not be standing at a machine just loading and unloading parts all day. The machinists in this shop are trusted to run tough jobs, solve problems, and help decide how the work gets done.

  • Work on advanced machines and unusual, interesting parts
  • Join a crew that respects skill and experience
  • Use everything you know about machining, not just part of it
  • Help improve tooling, fixtures, and processes and pass on what you know

Shifts and Pay

  • 1st shift: 7a to 3p
  • 2nd shift: 3p to 11p
  • 3rd shift: 11p to 7a
  • Pay: $21 to $41 per hour, based on your experience and skill level
  • Shift differential: extra $4.00 per hour on 2nd and 3rd shift
