Job Summary
The CNC Machinist III is a is a senior-level position responsible for advanced machining operations, programming, and overseeing production efficiency. This role requires expertise in CNC setup and programming, process optimization, and mentoring junior machinists. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in CNC machining and leadership skills.
Essential Functions
CNC Machine Operations
Advanced CNC machine set up and programing for complex projects per set up sheets and tool lists
Calculate cutting speeds/feeds and adjust cutting tools to obtain maximum through put with minimum impact on tooling.
Assist in developing machine processes to improve efficiency and quality
Lead troubleshooting efforts for technical and operational challenges in machining operations
Quality Control & Troubleshooting
Perform first-article inspections and routine quality checks using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
Troubleshoot machining problems, making adjustments as necessary to maintain part accuracy
Equipment Maintenance & Safety
Conduct routine maintenance on machines and tools to ensure operational efficiency.
Follow all company safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
Reporting and Communication
Report issues with equipment or production to supervisors promptly.
Communicate with engineers, supervisors, and production teams to ensure machining processes meet company standards.
Document production activities, material usage, and quality inspections accurately.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required; vocational training preferred.
5+ years of experience operating CNC machine
Expert in reading and interpreting blueprints, GD&T, and using precision measuring instruments.
Skills and Competencies
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
Familiarity with CAD/CAM software is highly desirable
Ability to work efficiently in a team environment, mentor and provide guidance to junior machinists.
Work Environment
This role involves working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and production noise.
Physical tasks include standing, lifting up to 30 lbs, and performing repetitive motions for extended periods.
Schedule
Compensation
Hourly Rate: $26.00-$35.00/hr.
