Position Overview

Kintara is supporting a leading precision manufacturer that produces highly engineered components for aerospace, defense, medical, and advanced industrial applications. We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist who can independently manage complex setups, fixtures, first article inspections, and in-process quality checks on tight-tolerance components in a high-mix, low-medium volume production environment.

This is a senior-level machining role for someone who takes ownership of the entire manufacturing process, from setup through final inspection, and serves as a technical resource for other machinists on the floor. The ideal person combines strong machining expertise with problem-solving ability, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Independently set up and operate multi-axis CNC turning and milling centers

  • Manage tooling, offsets, feeds, speeds, and process adjustments for tight-tolerance production

  • Design, build, and validate fixtures and workholding solutions for complex components

  • Lead First Article Inspections (FAI) and complete required documentation

  • Perform in-process dimensional verification using CMM equipment, surface plates, and precision measuring tools

  • Troubleshoot machining challenges including tool wear, chatter, dimensional variation, and process instability

  • Interpret complex GD&T requirements, engineering drawings, and customer specifications

  • Maintain accurate setup sheets, process documentation, and production records

  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and throughput

  • Mentor and support less experienced machinists while serving as a technical resource across the shop floor

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment

  • Experience with multi-axis CNC turning and milling centers (4-axis and/or 5-axis)

  • Strong understanding of fixture design and workholding for complex parts

  • Experience completing First Article Inspections and associated documentation

  • Advanced GD&T interpretation skills

  • Proficiency with CMMs and precision inspection equipment including micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, and surface plates

  • Strong understanding of feeds, speeds, tooling selection, and machining of common alloys including steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Experience machining titanium and other advanced material nice to have but not required.

  • Experience working within AS9100, ISO 9001, or similarly regulated manufacturing environments

  • Ability to work independently and make sound machining decisions with minimal supervision

  • Experience programming CNC machines using CAM software (Mastercam and/or GibbsCAM) is nice to have but not required.

Why Join?

This opportunity offers the chance to work on highly engineered, tight-tolerance components that support mission-critical aerospace, defense, medical, and industrial applications. You'll join a growing precision manufacturing organization investing in advanced equipment, process improvements, and long-term growth while fostering a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and professional development.
