Compensation

  • **Base Pay:

  • **Annual Merit Review & Increase:

Available Shifts

  • **1st Shift:

    ** Monday–Friday | 6:30am–3:00pm (1–2 openings)

  • **2nd Shift:

    ** Monday–Friday | 2:30pm–11:00pm (4 openings)

Position Summary

The CNC Machinist II is a highly skilled, detail-oriented technician responsible for independently setting up and operating CNC milling and turning equipment in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment. This role ensures efficient production through precise machine setups, tooling adjustments, and thorough first-article inspections.

The ideal candidate has strong live tool lathe experience, deep knowledge of machining principles and G-code, and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues with minimal supervision. Success in this role requires strong problem-solving skills, technical precision, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes with little to no supervision

  • Perform multi-axis setups, including live tooling applications

  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions

  • Load and adjust tools, set tool offsets, and verify tool paths via simulation or dry runs

  • Install and align fixtures, vises, and materials accurately

  • Conduct first-article inspections and adjust to meet tight tolerances

  • Troubleshoot tooling, programming, and machine parameter issues

  • Modify simple G-code functions (speeds, feeds, taper compensation) as needed

  • Collaborate with programmers and operators to improve setup time and part quality

  • Maintain detailed setup and tooling documentation

  • Monitor dimensional and visual characteristics to detect non-conformances

  • Use precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, optical inspection systems such as SmartScope)

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

  • Comply with all safety, health, and environmental regulations

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience (mills and lathes required)

  • 3+ years of multi-axis setup experience, including live tooling

  • 2+ years in a high-mix, low-volume production environment

  • Strong understanding of G-code

  • Ability to perform complex troubleshooting independently

  • Proficiency with precision measuring equipment

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills

  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and reliable attendance

  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
