OnStaff USA is currently hiring Machine Set-Up Operators for a long-term opportunity with a respected manufacturing partner in the Plainwell area. This facility produces precision metal components used in a variety of high-performance applications, and they are seeking candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on machining experience.

About the Opportunity

Our Plainwell partner operates a clean, well-organized, highly technical production floor specializing in:

• Precision springs and wire-formed components, and/or

• Tight-tolerance machined parts produced on CNC mills, lathes, and Swiss-style equipment

Because their work spans multiple machining disciplines, we are open to candidates who excel in either CNC/Swiss machining or spring coiling and forming.

What You’ll Do

Machine Set-Up & Operation

• Perform complete setups including tooling, fixtures, alignment, offsets, and programming verification

• Operate CNC mills, CNC lathes, Swiss machines or spring coilers, grinders, forming machines, and stress-relief ovens (based on skill set)

• Run trial parts and complete First Piece Approval

• Adjust machines during production to maintain performance and quality

Quality & Documentation

• Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision tools

• Confirm parts meet dimensional and cosmetic requirements

• Record production counts, scrap, and setup notes

Maintenance & Safety

• Perform light routine maintenance (filters, coolant, cleaning, greasing)

• Maintain a clean, safe work area

• Follow all PPE and safety protocols

What Makes You a Strong Fit

• 1+ year of CNC setup, Swiss machining, spring coiling, or similar precision machine experience

• Ability to read blueprints, spec sheets, and engineering drawings

• Comfortable using micrometers, calipers, and basic measurement tools

• Strong mechanical reasoning and troubleshooting ability

• Dependable, detail-oriented, and safety-focused

Physical Expectations

• Stand for long periods; bend, stoop, and perform repetitive motions

• Lift/move 30–50 lbs as needed

• Use close visual acuity to inspect small parts

• Wear appropriate PPE throughout the shift
