Job Overview:

Position Title: CNC Machinist – Set‑Up

Employment Type: Full-Time | Mon - Thu. : 6am - 3pm | Fri: 6am - 12pm

Location: Waukesha, WI 53189

Rate: $32 - $35/hour (Based on Expeerience)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist with strong set‑up capabilities to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machinery to produce precision components according to specifications. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, mechanically skilled, and able to work independently while ensuring accuracy, safety, and efficiency on the production floor.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Set‑Up

  • Set up CNC mills, lathes, or multi‑axis machines using appropriate tooling, fixtures, and programs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and job travelers.
  • Select and install tooling, offsets, workholding, and materials required for each job.
  • Perform first‑piece inspections to verify correct set‑up and part accuracy.

Machining & Production

  • Operate CNC equipment to produce parts to exact tolerances and quality standards.
  • Adjust machine controls, tool offsets, and feeds/speeds as needed to optimize performance.
  • Monitor machine operations and part quality throughout the production run.
  • Perform in‑process inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measurement tools.

Quality & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and correct machining issues, dimensional discrepancies, and tool wear.
  • Follow established quality control procedures and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Maintenance & Safety

  • Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication.
  • Ensure all work follows safety protocols and company standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of CNC machining and set‑up experience (mills, lathes, or both).
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, speeds/feeds, and materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency using precision measurement instruments (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.).
  • Experience with G&M‑code editing / programming a plus.
  • Ability to lift 40+ lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Skills (Optional)

  • Experience with specific CNC controls (e.g., Haas, Fanuc, Mazak).
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or 5S practices.
  • Basic CNC programming or CAM experience.
  • Experience with multi‑axis or high‑precision machining environments.
