Machine Maintenance Technician III
THIS POSITION IS FOR DAY SHIFT - 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Responsible for maintenance and repair of the facility's structure, equipment, and grounds. This role involves performing skilled trades work, troubleshooting various machine tools, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Proficiency in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, as well as familiarity with facility operations and maintenance tasks are required to complete job assignments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Advanced troubleshooting, diagnose, and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of various machine tools, including CNC and conventional machines, part washers, air benches, recyclers, and other production equipment.
- Perform skilled trades work such as carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical repairs in the construction, repair, or alteration of structures.
- Perform advanced periodic inspections of the facility to determine necessary repairs and maintenance.
- Assist lower-level technicians with complex tasks and report any immediate concerns to facilities management.
- Document completion of work orders in detail using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including steps taken, parts installed, and repairs performed.
- Maintain a safe operating environment by adhering to all maintenance safety practices, including Lock Out/Tag Out Procedures and Risk Analysis.
- Comply with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations, Company policy and accepted safe work practices.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:
• Valid California Driver’s License.
• Forklift License. (preferred)
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High school diploma with 4-6 years of experience in maintenance or a related field, or an associate's degree from a technical school plus relevant experience.
- Journey level skill in at least one of the following: Electrical, HVAC, or Plumbing.
- Experience working with CNC industrial equipment and controls (Fanuc, Haas, Mitsubishi) is preferred.
- Technical degree or trade/mechanical training related to the operation and maintenance of industrial equipment preferred.
- Proficient in office computing applications such as Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety requirements and hazardous waste inspection and management.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and ability to use blueprints, electrical and hydraulic schematics effectively.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well independently.
Preferred
- Demonstrated ability at operating computer numerical control machines
- Ability to use power tools.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB:
- Heavy lifting of manufacturing materials and products is required.
- Able to lift up to 40 pounds
- Climb stairs and ladders as needed
- Pull, push, bend, stretch, squat, reach above head
- Extended periods of walking and standing to access remote areas of the plant, heights, and confined spaces.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT OF THE JOB:
- Will be scheduled to work to coincide with FMI Technicians schedules with expected overtime during project or downtime periods.
- Regular exposure to a variety of temperatures and prevailing weather conditions
- Regular exposure to gases, vapors, dust, odors and flammable liquids
- Occasional exposure to areas with wet floors and high volume of noise
- Heavy lifting of manufacturing materials and products is required.
- The employee will be required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure to hazardous materials commonly used in a manufacturing environment (i.e., safety glasses and shoes, gloves, ear plugs/covers, mask, cleanroom suit) in the shop floor area.
- Call-ins or the extension of regular working hours is occasionally necessary to complete time-sensitive projects, attend training or to respond to emergencies.
