CNC Machine Maintenance Mechanic

Position Summary
We're seeking an experienced CNC Machine Maintenance Mechanic to lead our equipment maintenance operations. This is a hands-on role that requires expertise with Fanuc-based controllers such as Okuma Mills/Turning and Fanuc Robodrills. We have Haus, Tsugami, Onsrud, Northwood, and Tongtai machines as well. Ideal candidates thrive on solving complex mechanical and software challenges while bringing senior-level troubleshooting skills and a passion for advanced manufacturing technology.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnostic & Repair Excellence
- Troubleshoot and identify CNC machine malfunctions, isolating failure mechanisms with precision.
- Repair equipment failures using the most cost-effective methods while maintaining quality standards.
- Disassemble instruments and equipment to inspect components for defects.
- Align, repair, replace, and balance component parts and circuitry.
- Perform both software and hardware maintenance on CNC systems.
Preventive Maintenance & Calibration
- Execute preventive maintenance programs at specified intervals and schedules.
- Perform calibrations and re-qualifications on equipment according to established schedules.
- Maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment.
- Document times and problems in equipment logs and MaintainX maintenance management system.
Technical Leadership & Collaboration
- Train and mentor junior maintenance technicians on CNC maintenance best practices.
- Collaborate with Engineering on new tools and equipment to improve operating efficiency and quality.
- Assist process technicians and engineers with the installation and removal of process equipment.
- Provide alternative recommendations based on hands-on experience.
- Assist engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair, and evaluation plans.
- Take initiative to innovate and develop creative solutions to maintenance challenges.
- You'll collaborate with Engineering on automation projects and system optimization as we expand our machining capabilities.
Qualifications
Required:
- Extensive experience with CNC machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. 1-5 years preferred.
- Experience with precision calibration and measurement equipment (such as: Okuma Mills/Turning and Fanuc Robodrills, Haus, Tsugami, Onsrud, Northwood, and Tongtai).
- Strong diagnostic skills with the ability to isolate complex failure mechanisms.
- Proficiency in both mechanical and electrical/software systems.
- Proven ability to train and mentor junior technicians.
- Strong documentation skills and experience with maintenance management systems.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- High school diploma, military training, or equivalent vocational training.
Preferred:
- Experience in aerospace, aviation, or automotive manufacturing environments.
- Background working with composite materials or thermoset processing equipment.
- Familiarity with MaintainX or similar CMMS platforms.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance program development.

Work Environment
Climate-controlled manufacturing facility with state-of-the-art CNC equipment. The role requires standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50lbs, and working in an environment with noise and exposure to composite dust (proper PPE provided). Some flexibility for shift coverage may be required.
