Job Overview:
Responsibilities
- Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs for multi-axis CNC lathes.
- Program new jobs using CAM software and make program revisions as needed.
- Develop efficient machining strategies to reduce cycle times and improve productivity.
- Select tooling, inserts, workholding, and cutting parameters for optimal performance.
- Perform machine prove-outs and troubleshoot programming and machining issues.
- Read and interpret blueprints, CAD models, GD&T, and customer specifications.
- Work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure parts meet all quality standards.
- Support first-piece inspections and implement process improvements to reduce scrap and downtime.
- Maintain accurate program documentation and setup sheets.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and manufacturing process development.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of CNC programming experience focused on CNC turning.
- Experience programming CNC lathes using CAM software such as Mastercam, Esprit, GibbsCAM, NX, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of G-Code, tooling selection, feeds, speeds, and machining principles.
- Experience with multi-axis lathes, live tooling, and Y-axis machining preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T.
- Experience machining tight-tolerance components in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Programming multi-axis turning centers with live tooling.
- Experience with Swiss lathes is a plus.
- Aerospace, defense, medical, or other high-precision manufacturing experience.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
