We are hiring a CNC Lathe Operator for a stable, long-established precision manufacturing facility in Batavia, IL. This is a direct-hire, 1st shift opportunity for candidates with hands-on CNC turning experience who can set up, operate, and run CNC lathe equipment to produce precision machined components.
The facility specializes in rebuilding and manufacturing custom parts for packaging and roll stock machinery. This role is well suited for CNC operators or junior machinists looking for long-term stability, skill development, and consistent day-shift work in a clean, organized shop environment.
The CNC Lathe Operator is responsible for setting up, programming or editing programs, and operating CNC lathe machines to produce precision parts according to drawings and job travelers. This position supports production by maintaining part quality, performing inspections, and communicating issues with machining or engineering teams as needed. The role operates on a consistent weekday schedule with occasional overtime based on production needs.
• Set up and operate CNC lathe machines to produce precision machined parts
• Program, edit, or adjust CNC programs using drawings and job travelers
• Run Haas and Mazak CNC lathe equipment
• Perform secondary operations such as deburring, grinding, drilling, or tapping
• Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, and other basic measuring tools
• Monitor part quality and make offsets or adjustments as required
• Communicate production or quality concerns to machinists or engineering staff
• Maintain safe work practices and keep the work area clean and organized
• Assist in other shop areas as needed to support production flow
• Minimum 1 year of CNC lathe or CNC turning experience in a shop environment
• Ability to read blueprints and work from job travelers
• Experience using basic inspection and measuring tools
• Basic math skills, including decimals and metric measurements
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for the duration of the shift
• Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to read and write in English
• 1–2 years of CNC turning experience
• Experience with Haas or Mazak lathe machines
• Exposure to Mastercam or conversational programming
• Experience producing parts for packaging equipment or machine rebuilds
• Willingness to learn additional machines or operations
