We have a great opportunity to be a **CNC Lathe Machinist **for a precision manufacturing company in Tempe, AZ, 85282

$28–$36/hr | Day Shift | No Mandatory Overtime

Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM–2:30 PM

Position Overview

This is a hands-on setup and machining position—not an operator-only role.

Will work with Mazak and Yama-Seiki CNC lathes featuring live tooling and Y-axis capability, producing precision components for the aerospace, defense, medical, and semiconductor industries.

The shop is clean, organized, and fully air-conditioned, with a strong focus on quality, precision, and employee development.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC turning centers independently
• Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and manufacturing specifications
• Select and set tooling, work holding, and machine offsets
• Make tool wear, geometry, and dimensional adjustments
• Read CNC programs and make basic program edits
• Troubleshoot tooling, dimensional, finish, and process issues
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections
• Use micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges, and other precision measuring equipment
• Machine components to tight tolerances, including ±.001"
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area

Materials

Experience machining a variety of materials is preferred, including:

• Aluminum
• Stainless steel
• Titanium
• Ultem
• Teflon/PTFE
• Vespel
• Other engineered plastics

Qualifications

• 2+ years of CNC lathe machining experience
• Ability to independently set up CNC lathes
• Strong blueprint-reading skills
• Working knowledge of GD&T
• Experience with precision inspection equipment
• Ability to make machine offsets and basic CNC program edits
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and quality-minded

Preferred Experience

• Mazak / Mazatrol, Fanuc controls, Live tooling, Y-axis turning centers, Aerospace or precision machining, Tight-tolerance components, CNC programming.
