CNC Machinist – Lathe
Location: Southwick, MA
Job Type: Full-Time
Shift: First Shift | Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Pay Range: $26.10 – $32.25 per hour
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist – Lathe to join a precision aerospace manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathes, inspecting finished parts, and making machine adjustments as needed to ensure high-quality production and close-tolerance accuracy.
The ideal candidate will have strong CNC lathe experience, blueprint reading skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC lathe machines
- Follow operation sheets, blueprints, and verbal or written instructions
- Perform first-piece inspections and maintain dimensional accuracy
- Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and preset gages
- Enter tool offsets and make machine adjustments as needed
- Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues
- Maintain tooling, gages, and equipment in a clean and organized condition
- Operate multiple machines of the same function
- Perform daily machine maintenance and monitor machine performance
- Complete production paperwork and inspection documentation
- Maintain compliance with AS9100/ISO9001 standards including traceability and revision control
Qualifications
- 3+ years of CNC Lathe machining experience
- Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school training preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and operation sheets
- Experience using inspection tools including micrometers, calipers, and indicators
- Ability to set tools and enter offsets into machine controls
- Experience working with precision parts and tight tolerances
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Occasional travel to Westfield MA location may be required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to read customer and production documents with or without corrective lenses
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds as needed
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, reach overhead, push, pull, and sit for extended periods
