Job Overview:

CNC Lathe Set Up Operator

Location: Minneapolis, MN

Pay Rate: $25–$40 per hour

Shift:

1st Shift – 6:45 AM to 4:00 PM (Monday–Thursday)

6:45 AM to 12:00 PM (Friday)

Job Summary

Operate and maintain CNC equipment. As a CNC Lathe Set Up Operator, you will be responsible for reading and interpreting technical blueprints and performing quality checks on finished products. You may also be required to troubleshoot machine issues during the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Set up, edit programs, and run parts on CNC lathes with Fanuc controls (G and M Code)
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
  • Implement and maintain setup sheets for manufacturing
  • Validate NC code generated from CNC programs
  • Understand and apply proper workholding techniques
  • Collaborate with engineering, setup technicians, and machinists on new product introduction and continuous improvement
  • Troubleshoot and resolve programming and machining issues
  • Assist engineering, manufacturing, and quoting teams as needed

Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CNC Setup Operator (programming experience is a plus)
  • Ability to read and interpret design blueprints
  • Understanding of tooling types, speeds, and feeds
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Continuous mental and visual attention required
  • Ability to stand for extended periods; frequent sitting, talking, and hearing
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Work environment may include varying temperatures
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required
