Job Overview:

CNC Lathe Setup Machinist

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Setup Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC lathe machines to produce high-quality precision parts according to blueprint specifications and production requirements.

The ideal candidate will have strong setup experience, the ability to make offsets and tooling adjustments, and experience working with Fanuc controls and Tsugami machines. Candidates must be able to work independently while maintaining quality and production standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC lathe machines for production runs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and engineering drawings.
  • Perform tooling changes, offsets, and machine adjustments as needed.
  • Load programs and verify machine setups before production.
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot machining issues.
  • Maintain tight tolerances and ensure product quality standards are met.
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections.
  • Work closely with quality and engineering teams to resolve production concerns.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and manufacturing standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of CNC lathe setup experience.
  • Previous experience working with Fanuc controls required.
  • Experience operating and setting up Tsugami machines required.
  • Ability to read blueprints and GD&T preferred.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and offsets.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools and inspection equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and make adjustments independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

Preferred Skills

  • Multi-axis machining experience preferred.
  • Experience in a production manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of preventive machine maintenance.
  • Ability to work overtime when needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment around machinery and moving equipment.

  • CNC Machine Installation
  • CNC Machine Setup & Changeover

Machines & technologies you'll use:

  • CNC Lathe (2-4 axis) (Takisawa)
