Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Gundrill Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate and program CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Gundrill machines to produce precise, high-quality components. Your expertise in CNC programming, blueprint reading, and mechanical knowledge will ensure the efficient and accurate production of parts used across various industries. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency with precision measuring instruments, tooling, and machining techniques, contributing to our commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.

Duties

  • Set up and operate CNC Gundrill machines, ensuring adherence to specifications and safety standards.
  • Develop and modify CNC programs using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software to optimize machining processes.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and technical drawings to produce parts accurately.
  • Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify part dimensions.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot CNC equipment, including CNC lathe and milling machines, with familiarity in Fanuc controls.
  • Select appropriate tooling and tooling setups for various materials such as plastics or metals.
  • Conduct quality inspections throughout the machining process to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives by identifying process improvements and reducing waste.
  • Assist with assembly processes when required, utilizing hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other manufacturing tools.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience operating CNC Gundrill machines or similar CNC machining equipment. (UNISIG)
  • Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages such as G-code.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and applying GD&T principles for precision manufacturing.
  • Mechanical aptitude with understanding of tooling, fixtures, and machining processes.
  • Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a plus.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or CAD software for part design review is desirable.
  • Basic math skills for calculations related to measurements and tolerances.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing environments including plastics injection molding is advantageous.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines effectively.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency.
  • Valid forklift certification is preferred for material handling tasks.
