Key responsibilities- Set up and operate CNC grinding machines to perform tasks such as cylindrical, surface, and other abrasive machining processes.

  • Translate engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders into the correct dimensions and specifications for production.

  • Select, mount, and adjust grinding wheels, tools, and workpieces according to specifications.

  • Perform test runs and monitor the machine during operation, making necessary adjustments to program offsets, speeds, and feeds to ensure high-quality output.

  • Inspect and measure finished products with precision tools, such as micrometers, calipers, and gages, to verify that parts meet strict dimensional and surface finish requirements.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve machine malfunctions or production issues, escalating non-conformances to a supervisor as needed.

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on machines, including cleaning and lubricating, to ensure optimal functionality.

  • Adhere to all company safety guidelines and protocols, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Document production activities by completing production and quality logs accurately.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Qualifications and skills- High school diploma or GED required; additional technical school training or apprenticeship preferred.

  • Proven experience as a CNC Operator, with specific experience in CNC grinding preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders, including understanding GD&T.

  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

  • Effective problem-solving and communication skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Basic knowledge of CNC programming and G-code.

Physical demands- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.

  • Capability to lift and move heavy materials, up to 30 pounds, with or without assistance.

  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment that may be noisy and have exposure to lubricants or coolants.
