Compensation: Position summary
Key responsibilities- Set up and operate CNC grinding machines to perform tasks such as cylindrical, surface, and other abrasive machining processes.
Translate engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders into the correct dimensions and specifications for production.
Select, mount, and adjust grinding wheels, tools, and workpieces according to specifications.
Perform test runs and monitor the machine during operation, making necessary adjustments to program offsets, speeds, and feeds to ensure high-quality output.
Inspect and measure finished products with precision tools, such as micrometers, calipers, and gages, to verify that parts meet strict dimensional and surface finish requirements.
Troubleshoot and resolve machine malfunctions or production issues, escalating non-conformances to a supervisor as needed.
Perform routine and preventative maintenance on machines, including cleaning and lubricating, to ensure optimal functionality.
Adhere to all company safety guidelines and protocols, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Document production activities by completing production and quality logs accurately.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications and skills- High school diploma or GED required; additional technical school training or apprenticeship preferred.
Proven experience as a CNC Operator, with specific experience in CNC grinding preferred.
Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders, including understanding GD&T.
Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
Strong mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills.
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Effective problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Basic knowledge of CNC programming and G-code.
Physical demands- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
Capability to lift and move heavy materials, up to 30 pounds, with or without assistance.
Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment that may be noisy and have exposure to lubricants or coolants.
