Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Field Service Technician to join our team, providing on-site technical support and maintenance for CNC machinery and related systems. This role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating complex equipment across manufacturing environments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, hydraulics, and mechanical knowledge, with experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, vision inspection systems, and high-voltage systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic field service environment, supporting customer operations and ensuring optimal machine performance.
Responsibilities
- Perform installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair of CNC machinery and automation systems at client sites including about 80% travel.
- Conduct calibration and alignment of precision measuring instruments to ensure machine accuracy.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and control system documentation including AutoCAD drawings.
- Diagnose electrical issues involving low voltage, high voltage, sensors, distributed control systems (DCS), and vision inspection systems.
- Utilize calibration tools such as ohmmeters and other measurement instruments to verify system performance.
- Maintain detailed service reports and documentation of work performed for customer records.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating technical information clearly and professionally to clients.
- Support preventive maintenance activities to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Assist in training customers on system operation and basic troubleshooting procedures.
Experience
- Proven experience in industrial electrician work or industrial maintenance within manufacturing settings.
- Hands-on experience with hydraulics, mechanical systems, sensors, PLC programming (including Calypso), and calibration procedures.
- Familiarity with schematics, AutoCAD drawings, and the use of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers or calipers.
- Knowledge of CNC systems, including low voltage controls, high voltage safety protocols, and distributed control systems (DCS).
- Experience working with vision inspection systems or similar automation equipment is preferred.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information effectively.
- Military background or experience in a related technical field is considered a plus. This role requires a motivated professional capable of working independently in diverse environments while maintaining safety standards and delivering high-quality service to clients.
