Smith Brothers Tool has designed and manufactured precision aerospace and defense tooling since1981. Our customers include Boeing, Bell Helicopter, GE Aviation, and Honda Aircraft Company. Webuild assembly tools, lay-up tools, large and small checking tools, mill fixtures, and more for the mostdemanding programs in the industry.
We're looking for a versatile machinist who is equally comfortable on a Bridgeport manual mill, a lathe,and a CNC machine. In our job-shop environment, every day brings a different part and a differentchallenge. You'll be machining components for aerospace and defense tooling used in some of themost demanding programs in the industry.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Set up, adjust, and operate manual and CNC machine tools including Bridgeport mills, lathes,grinders, saws, boring mills, and drill presses
• Work from blueprints, sketches, process sheets, and verbal/written instructions
• Secure workpieces using appropriate fixturing and holding methods
• Monitor machine performance and adjust controls as needed to maintain quality
• Use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators) to check work
throughout the process
• Perform basic machine maintenance including lubrication
• Maintain a clean and organized work area at the end of each shift
WHAT YOU BRING
• Proven experience operating Bridgeport-style manual mills, lathes, and grinders — required
• Ability to read and work from blueprints — required
• Strong accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to operate machines independently with minimal supervision
• GD&T knowledge — required
• CNC setup and operation experience — required
• Experience in a manufacturing environment — required
• Shop math proficiency
◦ Preferred (not required):
• AS9100 quality system experience
• Tool/die repair skills
• Basic CNC programming knowledge
• Experience with Nylon 6 / Nylon 66 materials
