Direct experience with Micro-Vu and/or Mitutoyo CMM equipment is highly desirable. Candidates with strong CMM programming expertise and the ability to independently develop inspection strategies are especially encouraged to apply.
Position Overview
A well-established precision manufacturing company in the Sarasota area is seeking an experienced CMM Programmer / Senior Quality Inspector to join its Quality team.
This is a hands-on, programming-level quality position responsible for dimensional inspection of complex, tight-tolerance machined components. The successful candidate will be capable of determining how a part should be inspected, developing and modifying CMM programs, analyzing results, and working with manufacturing personnel to resolve dimensional and quality concerns.
The position involves a combination of CMM and vision measurement work along with traditional hands-on dimensional inspection.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set up, and operate CMM and vision measurement equipment
- Utilize the Micro-Vu SOL 311 for dimensional and visual inspection of precision components
- Program and operate the Mitutoyo Crysta-Apex S 7106 using MCOSMOS v5.2
- Develop, modify, optimize, and troubleshoot CMM inspection programs
- Determine appropriate inspection strategies based on part geometry, tolerances, and engineering requirements
- Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections
- Inspect complex, tight-tolerance CNC-machined components
- Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T
- Perform dimensional inspections using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, and other precision measurement equipment
- Analyze inspection results and identify dimensional trends or nonconforming conditions
- Accurately document inspection results and maintain required quality records
- Communicate quality concerns to machinists, CNC programmers, manufacturing engineers, and other members of the Quality team
- Assist with troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions
- Support continuous improvement of inspection methods and quality processes
- Ensure inspection equipment and procedures are used in accordance with established quality standards
Qualifications
- Strong CMM programming experience within a precision manufacturing environment
- Experience with Micro-Vu vision measurement systems highly preferred
- Experience with Mitutoyo CMM equipment highly preferred
- MCOSMOS programming experience highly desirable
- Advanced understanding of GD&T and dimensional inspection
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications
- Experience inspecting precision-machined components with tight tolerances
- Strong knowledge of precision measurement techniques and inspection methodology
- Proficiency with standard inspection equipment, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and indicators
- Ability to independently determine the appropriate method for inspecting complex components
- Strong mathematical, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience in aerospace, medical, defense, advanced manufacturing, or another high-precision machining environment is a plus

This is not simply a CMM operator position. We are seeking an experienced quality professional who understands the complete dimensional inspection process and can independently determine how complex parts should be measured and verified.
The ideal candidate can move comfortably between CMM programming, vision measurement, GD&T interpretation, hands-on inspection, and collaboration with the manufacturing team.
Candidates with direct experience using the Micro-Vu SOL 311, Mitutoyo Crysta-Apex CMM, and MCOSMOS software will be particularly well aligned with this opportunity.
