POSITION SUMMARY:

A high-precision tooling and machining services company is seeking a skilled CMM Programmer to support production and quality operations. This role is responsible for developing, programming, and executing CMM inspection routines while also performing hands-on quality inspection and supporting overall quality assurance efforts.

The ideal candidate is a self-sufficient programmer who not only builds and optimizes CMM programs, but also works closely with machinists, engineers, and quality personnel to ensure parts consistently meet customer and company standards. This position requires a strong understanding of metrology, GD&T, and precision machining, along with a team-oriented mindset aligned with our core values of People, Integrity, and Excellence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. CMM Programming and Operation

  • Develop, program, and optimize CMM inspection routines for complex, tight-tolerance components
  • Set up and operate CMMs and other metrology equipment to support production and validation activities
  • Troubleshoot and refine existing programs to improve efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T to ensure accurate inspection strategies
  • Ensure proper probe qualification, alignment strategies, and program validation

2. Quality Inspection and Support

  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections of precision-machined components and tooling
  • Utilize handheld measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, height gages, indicators, etc.) as needed
  • Support production by providing timely and accurate inspection feedback

3. Documentation and Compliance

  • Complete and maintain accurate inspection reports, records, and Certificates of Conformance (COC)
  • Manage nonconforming product, including documentation, containment, and communication
  • Maintain and support ISO 9001 quality system requirements and documentation
  • Ensure traceability and integrity of all inspection and measurement data

4. Collaboration and Problem Solving

  • Work cross-functionally with machinists, engineers, and production teams to resolve quality issues
  • Provide technical input on measurement methods, inspection strategies, and GD&T interpretation
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for nonconformances
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to quality and inspection processes

Employee will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in CMM programming or precision inspection
  • Strong proficiency in blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation
  • Hands-on experience with CMM programming software
  • Experience performing first-piece, in-process, and final inspections
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in CNC machining, manufacturing technology, or related field
  • Background in CNC machining, tool & die, or tight-tolerance manufacturing environments
  • Experience with vision systems or other advanced metrology equipment
  • Experience supporting audits or leading inspection-related initiatives
