Job Overview:

Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to support the Quality Departments ability to achieve its goals. This includes accurately and timely auditing of company process, incoming material, work-in-process and customer shipments to achieve TRIBUS Quality and Business objectives and to comply with AS9100 standards. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Write, develop, validate and debug measuring machine programs and provide the supporting documentation for CMM inspections.
  • Communicate with all stakeholders, supervisors, engineers, and skilled trades to meet customer/shop floor needs.
  • Support the development and improvement of measuring systems and effective programming for assigned areas.
  • Recommend and implement programming best practices and aspire to support measurement systems for the manufacturing organization.
  • **Recommend, implement as directed, support, and provide continuous improvement of lean measuring systems through effective programming and up to date measuring practices. **
  • Design adequate work holdings for part inspection.
  • Troubleshoot and solve both machine issues and related problems in the measuring process.
  • Train manufacturing and quality personnel on CMM.
  • Perform 1st piece, in-process and last piece inspection using micrometers, calipers, comparators, various gauges and CMM equipment according to Advanced Machining & Tooling’s standards and AS9100 procedures.
  • Complete customer PPAP requirements including control plans and first/last piece inspection reports.
  • Perform incoming material inspection tasks according to AS 9100 procedures and counterfeit awareness per AS6174.
  • Perform final inspection and shipping tasks according to AS 9100 procedures.
  • Perform process audits and follow-up with corrective actions.
  • Ensure the quality of all material meets customer specifications through applicable quality policies, procedures and instructions.
  • Cross train across multiple departments as needed.
  • Perform data collection and communication tasks in ERP and other applications.
  • Perform miscellaneous quality-related clerical duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all Company policies.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job

  • This position will carry parts and material up to 50 pounds
  • This position requires lifting, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds
  • This position routinely performs reaching, twisting, bending, and grasping in order to package/unpackage parts, move and set tools, equipment and materials
  • This position will work the forklift or use another technique to bring in anything that is over 50 pounds
  • When deburring, this position will routinely perform tedious operations requiring hand and finger dexterity
  • This position will stand at least 95% of the scheduled shift

Minimum Experience:

  • 1+ year of experience programming a CMM OR 2+ year of experience running a CMM.
  • General knowledge of blueprint reading (GD&T).
  • Knowledge of how CAD models work.
  • Ability to use common measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, gauges (pin, thread, indicator, height), optical comparators.
  • Strong specific knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T, setup, tooling and fixture techniques.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • 3+ year of experience programming a CMM and 5+ year of experience running a CMM.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Specific applied knowledge of aerospace quality procedures and AS9100.
  • Strong specific knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T, setup, tooling and fixture techniques.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking abilities and root cause analysis
  • Ability to read and understand material specifications
  • Knowledge of non-destructive testing, metal finish processes and heat treatment processes
  • Working knowledge of CNC machining, tool, fixture, work-holding and die design.
