Scope: A Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Programmer is responsible for creating, testing, and maintaining programs that control CMM machines to ensure precise measurements of manufactured parts and components. These programs are critical for verifying that products meet design specifications and quality standard.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Program Development & Maintenance: Write, modify, and debug CMM programs to inspect parts according to blueprints and specifications
- Inspection & Verification: Operate CMM machines to measure parts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with specifications and tolerances.
- Quality Assurance: Review inspection results, perform root cause analysis, and provide feedback to production and engineering.
- Collaboration: Work with quality control, engineering, and manufacturing teams to optimize inspection methods and resolve quality issues
- Technology Integration: Implement new inspection equipment (e.g., blue light, laser scanning) and adapt to new technologies
- Documentation: Maintain records of programs, processes, and inspection results
- Training: Guide operators and new programmers in using CMM machines and software
Requirement: Must be a US Citizen
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CMM software (e.g., CAM 2, Calypso), CAD/CAM, and quality systems (AS9100, QMS)
- Certifications: GD&T, CMM, ASQ CQE, ASQ CQI, CALYPSO, or related quality/inspection certifications
- Soft Skills: Analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and ability to work independently or in team.
- Knowledge: Understanding of ASME, ISO, GD&T, MIL specifications, aerospace standards, and Lean/Kaizen manufacturing.
Work Experience: 1–3+ years in CMM programming or related manufacturing inspection roles
Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in technical, engineering, manufacturing, or related fields preferred
