Position Summary

The CMM Programmer is responsible for creating, maintaining, and executing coordinate measuring machine (CMM) programs used to inspect high-precision machined components. This role supports production and engineering teams by ensuring all parts meet customer specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong GD&T knowledge, experience with Zeiss Calypso or similar software, and a hands-on approach to continuous improvement in the inspection process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize CMM programs using Zeiss Calypso (or other CMM software) to inspect precision components.
  • Interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per engineering drawings and 3D models.
  • Conduct first article, in-process, and final inspections using CMM and other precision measurement tools.
  • Verify inspection results and communicate non-conformances to Quality and Engineering.
  • Maintain calibration and ensure accuracy of CMM equipment.
  • Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality personnel to resolve dimensional or tolerance issues.
  • Create and maintain documentation for inspection procedures, reports, and part programs.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and inspection efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or associate degree preferred.
  • Experience: 3+ years of CMM programming experience in a precision machining environment (Zeiss preferred).
  • Proficiency in GD&T, blueprint reading, and interpreting 3D CAD models.
  • Strong working knowledge of metrology tools (micrometers, height gauges, calipers, etc.).
  • Ability to troubleshoot programs and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 or AS9100 standards preferred.

Pay Range

A reasonable estimate of the hourly pay range for this role is $25- $35 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location.
