Description

1 REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Reports to the Quality Manager.


2 PURPOSE

2.1 Function

2.1.1 To provide specific support to the Quality Manager;

2.1.2 Support Quality activities with complex part and first article layout and CMM Programming;

2.1.3 Provide quality support to engineering and production through advanced CMM programming and inspection;

2.1.4 Work effectively with engineers, inspectors, supervisors and quality associates to resolve quality issues, achieve team objectives, and promote quality principles.

2.2 Authority

2.2.1 Works with Quality Manager to identify needed resources to achieve organization goals.


3 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

3.1 Create CMM inspection programs using PC-DMIS. Understand and use quality principals including quality statistics. Provide capability data and analysis;

3.2 Analyze CMM and manual Inspection reports to determine adherence to drawings, specifications, processing procedures and adequacy of the facilities to insure quality;

3.3 Prepare detailed inspection documentation such as written descriptions of inspection results including deviations from engineering specifications Summarize data into a management format;

3.4 Oversee the CMM equipment, install software, and troubleshoot mechanical and software issues;

3.5 Partner with Customers to interpret complex drawings with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing;

3.6 Support the quality improvement, cost reduction, and customer initiative programs with the production team;

3.7 Maintain a clean work area ensuring strict adherence to the 5S concepts;

3.8 Using the measurement equipment in the lab, conduct 100% layouts per the parts print based on the RM#s. Determine the technique needed to perform the inspections, prepare the samples and compile the data;

3.9 All other duties as assigned.

5 SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITY

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.



Requirements

6 WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional environment, as well as a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. This role also is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


7 QUALIFICATIONS

7.1 High school diploma or equivalent.

7.2 Bachelor’s Degree in related field is preferred;

7.3 Excellent organizational and communication skills;

7.4 2 years of PC-DMIS programming experience required;

7.5 Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite;

7.6 Team player and model employee.


8 PHYSICAL DEMANDS

8.1 Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

8.2 Must be able to lift 20 pounds at times.

8.3 Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.


9 POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position regularly requires extended hours and possible weekend work.


10 TRAVEL

Local travel to various worksites is required.
