Overview

We are seeking a skilled CMM Programmer to join our team at our facility in Hanover, PA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing and experience with a variety of technical skills.

Responsibilities

The responsibility of this position is to prepare and set-up NC/CNC machines throughout the plant in accordance with specifications from Manufacturing Engineering or by writing required programs to machine parts which meet statistical requirements. Assist operators in gaining more knowledge of their machine controls as necessary. The individual must be able to work under moderate supervision and interact with commercial suppliers as well as various Sheppard departments. Responsibilities captioned below are considered essential job functions:

  • - Prepares and sets-up programs for all NC/CNC machines utilizing the CAD network.

  • - Reviews CAD files and/or drawings to assure that the part will be made properly, that fixtures and tooling can be used as designed and that the program associated with the part is operating correctly.

    • Maintains accurate files of all programs and set-up information, as supplied by Designers and ME’s correcting and updating any changes in parts, fixtures and/or methods that may be necessary.
    • Monitors machine set-ups to keep the set-ups as uniform as possible between similar parts and at the same time minimize any loss of efficiency.
    • Prepare programs for use on both primary and secondary machines, eliminating serious bottlenecks in the production areas to maintain maximum machine efficiency.
    • Support the manufacturing effort by providing necessary assistance including time estimates of new methods, assisting operators and supervisors as needed and advising proper tool selection.
    • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

:

  • Knowledge of advanced machine shop practices, processes, and mechanics.
  • Knowledge of the operations of metal working machines, including the understanding of set-ups and tool life.
  • Ability to read and interpret component blueprints and drawings.
  • Skilled in mathematics. (Trigonometry, plane geometry and algebra)
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and its application necessary to meet production requirements.
  • Research and Development skills
  • Ability to utilize sound techniques to complete assignments on time
  • Quality communication skills for relating to people on all levels and to deal with service providers
  • Ability to make decisions independently, based on overall objectives established by the Manufacturing Engineering Manager
  • Knowledge of the MS Office Suite
  • Knowledge of OEE Studio software

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or equivalent required

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
