Job Overview:

Jacobs is currently interviewing TS/SCI w/Poly candidates for a Cloud Software Engineer.  The position is located in Annapolis Junction, MD supporting our government customer.




  • Review and test software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results
  • Resolve software problem reports
  • Utilize software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse Could based software system solutions based upon documented requirements
  • Provide specific input to the software components of the system design
  • Work with Open Source (i.e., NoSQL) products that support highly distributed, massively parallel computation needs
  • Work with Map Reduce programming model and technologies
  • Work with the distributed file systems to support software applications
  • Perform serialization utilizing formats
  • Perform requirements analysis and design of Object-Oriented systems
  • Utilize technical writing skills to generate technical documents in support of a software development project




  • Ability to migrate local virtual machines based in vSphere along with OpenStack to Amazon Web Services
  • Proficient in monitoring, management, design, implementation of new ideas, proofing of concepts and troubleshooting
  • Experience with Tenable Security Center+ and Nessus agents
  • Experience in updating VMWare Horizon infrastructure to latest requirements, additional desktop images along with parch and vulnerability management
  • Advanced knowledge of continued design, automation, and production support of storage devices
  • Experience creating multi-pop VPN solutions using Open Source and OEM solutions
  • Creating a disconnected Kubernetes production environment utilizing local certificate authority and registry
  • Experience in providing Tier 3 support and virtualization
  • Leading security efforts utilizing McAfee EPS, Endpoint and Agent along with SPLUNK to secure corporate Enterprise
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • 3 years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree.
  • At least 5 years of experience in software development/engineering to include requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution.

Most work will be done at a desk or computer.


Work Environment:
General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.


Equipment & Machines:
General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.


Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday.  However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.
