Job Overview:

ROLE SUMMARY

Clinical Supply Operations (CSO) is part of the Medicinal Sciences Global Clinical Supply (GCS) Group. Our purpose is to provide packaging, labeling, and logistics solutions to deliver quality patient-focused clinical supplies to the patient. The CSO Packaging Material Planner is responsible for planning and procurement of all necessary packaging materials including label stock and ancillary items to support CSO internal packaging operations and responsible for oversight of packaging material planning & purchasing at CSOs 3rd party supplier network to ensure all required materials are in-stock in sufficient quantity and quality released ahead of clinical packaging campaigns.

This position will evaluate the potential use of novel and innovate packaging materials and solutions. The role will research, experiment, and make recommendations for alternative packaging material options that have the potential to simplify and streamline supply chain operations, enable the use of novel technology and support Pfizer’s sustainability objectives.

This position works closely with the Medicinal Sciences Drug Product Supply Inventory Management team to partner and coordinate material specification reviews and joint purchasing efforts.

This position works closely with Operational Strategy Leads (OSLs), CSO Planners and Schedulers, and other key functional roles in CSO and GCS to understand short- and long-range packaging needs to ensure all materials required for packaging operations are in stock and available.

The position requires a quality and customer focused individual with a continuous improvement mindset and technical/operational acumen to work with all business partners to take effective actions to ensure inspection readiness and obtain and retain knowledge of packaging needs across our internal operations and vendor network.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The CSO Packaging Material Planner will work closely within the CSO Production Planning team to determine long range forecasts and material needs to ensure no stockouts of packaging materials, ancillary items and/or label stock occur within internal or external packaging operations to ensure effective execution and completion of packaging and labelling operations and timely delivery of clinical supplies to support clinical studies and patients.
  • Works in close partnership with Medicinal Sciences Drug Product Supply inventory management teams to coordinate joint efforts on material reviews and purchasing.
  • Develops and implement processes to ensure effective monitoring of critical packaging material inventories are maintained.
  • Takes accountability for management of Pfizer Purchase orders as necessary to ensure appropriate stock levels for packaging materials and services.
  • Coordinates with procurement, analytical labs, transportation, internal warehouses, and vendors to ensure on-time delivery and receipt of packaging materials.
  • Leads and participates in productivity projects, eliminating all forms of waste.
  • Monitors performance and develops metrics & reports on inventory performance, cycle count compliance, destruction efforts and expenses related to procurement and storage.
  • Develops strong internal cross-functional relationships and vendor relationships to ensure the achievement of department and business objectives through collaboration.
  • Researches and experiments with novel packaging materials, services, and suppliers to drive innovation and simplify CSO packaging operations.
  • Makes recommendations for new materials, services, packaging solutions and suppliers based on research and experimentation outcomes.
  • Leads cross functional teams aimed at bringing efficiency and simplification to clinical supply packaging through use of improved, new, or novel packaging materials.
  • Participates on cross functional teams as a resident subject matter expert on packaging materials, their usage, inventory levels and costs.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA, MA/MS with 5 years of relevant experience or bachelor’s degree with years of relevant clinical supply chain experience.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Demonstrates project management and prioritization skills to support clinical supply packaging and/or labelling operations along with external vendors and uses these to develop options for project progression (e.g. technical, process, plan, or system).
  • Demonstrates understanding of complex clinical study designs and GMP documentation.
  • Articulate in both verbal and written communication. A strong presenter that can deliver messages within the internal organization and externally with our partners.
  • Excellent customer focused communication and listening skills.
  • Proven interpersonal, facilitation, customer relations and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn fast and foster a CSO culture of innovation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Continuous Improvement mindset; Lean or Sigma training.
  • Prior experience with supply chain enterprise supply chain systems.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Role requires Pfizer Site presence.
  • Occasional travel to vendor sites may be required.
