Overview

GENERAL DYNAMICS OTS, a world class aerospace defense contractor located in Anniston, AL seeks a Shipping and Receiving Clerk. The work environment is clean, safe, and centrally air conditioned. Major Position Responsibilities

POSITION PURPOSE: 

Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties

 

MAJOR ACTIVITIES-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  

  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Determines method of shipment.
  • Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
  • Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
  • Inserts items into containers.
  • Bands, straps and prepares items for shipment
  • Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
  • Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Routes items to departments.
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Verifies cycle counts on blind cycle count reports.
  • Move green tagged material to look location.
  • Deliver hot kit pulls as necessary
  • Must be highly proficient in record keeping abilities using Microsoft Office, web based shipping programs, etc
  • Must be able to write and/or make changes to work instructions and procedures.
  • Must follow all safety rules and company policies.
  • Receive direct and indirect material.
  • Pull and issue kit pulls.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:  (Education, Training, Years Experience, Special Skills or Limitations)

Associate’s degree (AA) from two-year college in business; two 2+ years related working experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, an eye for details, a positive attitude, and advanced computer skills.
