The selected candidate will play a key role in meeting the company objectives and establishing strategic direction in the area of rotorcraft aerodynamic performance. The Aerodynamics group is responsible for the development/validation/application of aircraft performance parameters/metrics such as mission performance: lift (payload capability), range/radius of action, and speed capability; and aircraft aerodynamic analyses such as: parasite and vertical drag calculations and minimization, height-velocity (H-V) diagram analysis, and flight in icing analyses across helicopter programs at Sikorsky. Areas of responsibility for the group include the development of performance specifications and design criteria documentation to guide the design teams to well-balanced solutions. The Chief of Aerodynamics will have the primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, and managing all the activities of the Aerodynamics group and supporting program requirements across the company. This will include direct responsibility for task and manpower forecast as well as strategic planning.

The candidate must have solid analytical, communication, organizational, and time management skills. The candidate must possess multi-tasking abilities, have a strong customer focus, and work effectively in a time sensitive environment. The candidate should also be proficient in the use of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Strong communication and leadership skills are required. The candidate will be managing a group of 6-8 analysts. The ability to accommodate changing priorities on a daily basis is a must.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering
14 years or more of professional experience; or 12 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree

5 years of demonstrated leadership skills and prior experience in leading analytical teams. Candidate will be managing a group of 6-8 analysts.

U.S. citizenship is required, must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US DOD Security Clearance

Ability to work remotely

Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Pay Rate:
In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $122,900 - $204,800 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.
