Chemours is seeking a(n) Chemist Spring Co-op to join our Core Services Analytical team! This position will report directly to the Global Core Services Manager.
This position will support analytical testing of new and existing products to support our Growth, Technical Service, and Operations teams while working closely with the Principal Chemists to support critical lab programs. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, customer-focused problem solver with a passion for innovation and collaboration.
Location: Newark, Delaware
Hours: Regular full-time schedule of 40 hours per week
Preferred First Term: January-June 2023
Candidates must be able to commit to at least a total of six (6) months as a co-op. Two (2) or more terms may be required.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Perform analytical measurements in the lab and provide support for the development of improved next generation fluorochemicals.
Plan and conduct experiments, collect necessary data, organize/record the data, share conclusions broadly and continue experiments as needed with guidance from analytical team.
Interpret and analyze results and provide data-driven recommendations.
Collaborate with team members in Core Services, Product Growth, Technical Service, and Operations to set the objectives and priorities for various tests.
Provide data to guide research programs and prepare patent applications.
Ensure laboratory and analytical measurement systems are in good working condition
The following is required for this role:
Enrollment at an accredited college or university as a Sophomore or above at time of assignment
Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Chemistry
Proficiency in basic lab skills (i.e. distillation)
The following is preferred for this role:
3.0 GPA or above
Experience with gas phase chemistry
Experience with GC, IR and IC
