Chain Mechanic - Jewelry Manufacturing
5:00am - 3:30pm Monday - Thursday
We are seeking experienced Chain Mechanics to support the precision manufacturing of fine jewelry chains. This role requires a high level of mechanical skill, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. The Chain Mechanic is responsible for operating, setting up, and maintaining specialized chain‑making equipment while ensuring exceptional quality, consistency, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, calibrate, and operate chain‑making machines used in jewelry production
- Perform machine changeovers, precise adjustments, and production start‑ups
- Properly handle fine wire and high‑value precious materials
- Inspect chains using precision measuring tools to ensure exacting quality standards
- Monitor production processes to maintain consistency, appearance, and craftsmanship
- Troubleshoot and correct mechanical issues to minimize downtime and material loss
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on chain‑making equipment
- Maintain accurate production, quality, and maintenance records
- Maintain a clean, organized, and detail‑oriented work environment
Required Qualifications
- Experience as a chain mechanic working with precious metals
- Ability to operate Lathes, Grinders and Bridgeport Mills
- Tool Room experience a big plus
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles and machine operation
- High level of manual dexterity and attention to detail
- Proficiency with hand tools, including pliers and soldering tools
- Experience using precision measuring devices (micrometers, gauges, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret mill tickets, manuals, and process documentation in English
- Good math skills and strong quality focus
- Ability to work independently and troubleshoot effectively
- Reliable attendance and commitment to safety and quality
- High School Diploma or GED required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk throughout 8–10 hour shifts
- Ability to push, pull, reach, stoop, and crouch as needed
- Manual dexterity for handling fine wire and jewelry chains
- Ability to perform repetitive motions and detailed visual inspections
This role operates in a manufacturing facility where conditions may include exposure to loud noise, fluctuating temperatures (hot or cold), and moving machinery. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
