Pharmacy Technician – Clinic
Position Summary-
This position assists pharmacists and healthcare providers with medication preparation, inventory management, prescription processing, patient assistance, and maintaining accurate medication records. The Pharmacy Technician will work closely with patients and clinical staff while maintaining confidentiality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable pharmacy regulations and clinic policies.
Mon-Friday - 8am-5pm
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists and clinical staff with daily pharmacy operations within the clinic.
- Prepare, package, label, and organize medications under the direction and supervision of a pharmacist.
- Process medication orders and assist with prescription and medication-related documentation.
- Review medication orders for completeness and accuracy and bring discrepancies to the attention of the pharmacist.
- Assist with medication reconciliation and maintaining accurate patient medication records.
- Coordinate medication refills and communicate with pharmacies, providers, and patients as directed.
- Maintain accurate medication inventory and assist with ordering, receiving, stocking, and organizing medications and supplies.
- Monitor medication inventory for expiration dates, recalls, and appropriate storage conditions.
- Assist with controlled-substance documentation and inventory procedures as permitted by applicable regulations.
- Prepare medications for dispensing or administration according to established clinic procedures and pharmacist direction.
- Communicate professionally with patients regarding medication-related questions and refer clinical questions to the pharmacist or appropriate healthcare provider.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and clinic privacy policies.
- Enter and maintain accurate information in electronic health records, pharmacy systems, and other computer systems.
- Assist with medication-related paperwork, reports, and recordkeeping.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy work area.
- Follow all applicable federal and state pharmacy regulations, clinic policies, and medication safety procedures.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, pharmacists, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Pharmacy Technician certification required.
- Previous pharmacy technician experience- clinic, hospital, specialty pharmacy.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy when handling medications and patient information.
- Basic knowledge of pharmacy terminology, medications, and healthcare procedures.
- Strong computer and data-entry skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
