Job Overview:

Quarry 2nd Shift 

QUALIFICATIONS:

In order for a person to qualify for this position, you must have the ability to successfully perform all the following jobs safely, competently, correctly, timely, and with minimal supervision. You must also show initiative and demonstrate a desire to do your job to the best of your ability. You must be able to demonstrate competency in the use of hand tools. Five plus years of industrial maintenance experience is required. The below list is the minimum requirements which are subject to change as requirements change.

  1. Must be able to perform the various burning and welding procedures as required.
  2. Must be able to splice the various belts throughout the plant.
  3. Must be able to adjust and train conveyor belts so they track properly.
  4. Must be able to layout, cut, and install conveyor skirts.
  5. Must be able to replace V-belts and align sheaves.
  6. Must know how to safely and properly rig and hoist equipment.
  7. Must know crane signals.
  8. Must be able to remove and install bushings from sheaves and sprockets.
  9. Must be able to replace screw conveyor tail and hanger bearings and shafts.
  10. Must be able to replace gear reducers and align their couplings. Must also be able to replace shaft mounted gear reducers.
  11. Must be able to read a tape measure to 1/32 of an inch.
  12. Must be able to measure, cut and thread piping to fit.  Must be able to assemble pipefittings.
  13. Must be able to safely operate a forklift.
  14. Must be able to learn the equipment to troubleshoot and repair it.
  15. Must be able to tear down and properly reassemble any piece of equipment.
  16. Must be able to remove and install spherical roller bearings and set the proper clearance.
  17. Must understand and be able to troubleshoot 480VAC motor control circuits.
  18. Must be able to read an electrical schematic and troubleshoot a circuit.
  19. Must be able to replace and wire up a 3-phase 480VAC motor.
  20. Must have the ability to learn to troubleshoot PLC systems.
  21. Must be able to run conduit, pull wire and connect to enclosures.
  22. Must be able to safely operate a Manlift.
  23. Must be willing to train to become a certified crane operator and a certified signal person.
  24. Must be able to learn the electrical system to be able to troubleshoot and repair.
  25. Must be able to perform preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
  26. Must be willing to travel for training as needed.

Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Inspecting, repairing, installing, and servicing of stationary and mobile equipment; repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical and electrical equipment, such as motors, cables, pumps, conveyors, belts, fans, air conditioners, PLCs, MCC cabinets, etc.;
  • Examines mechanical and electrical equipment to diagnose trouble; disassembles machines and repairs or replaces broken parts;
  • Adjusts functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary; cleans and lubricates parts;
  • Orders replacement parts;
  • Inspects completed repairs;
  • Performs all work in accordance with safety procedures; requisitions new parts and equipment. 
  • Must be willing to work evening or night shift, temporarily or permanently. 
  • Must be willing to travel for training; 
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Job Qualifications:
  • Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma or GED; 
  • 5+ years of mechanical and electrical experience in an industrial manufacturing environment;
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to other employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved, written or oral instructions.
  • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; in outside weather conditions; and is frequently exposed to petroleum products, and wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.
