Job Description 

Direct and support development of unique electronic packaging products for use in the manufacture of electronic devices. Supervise and Lead teams to develop products that meet customer requirements. Work with Technical Service, Manufacturing Engineering, Planning and others to assure smooth acceptance and scale up of new products. Prepare reports and presentations to internal and external customers. Prepare information for Project and Gate Reviews. Prepare Invention Disclosure and other documents to protect intellectual property. Conduct Performance and Salary Reviews of direct reports. Recruit and Train employees as required.

  • Work with Director and business leaders to establish R&D priorities and assign projects to subordinates to assure timely and high quality development of new products to support growth of electronic packaging materials.
  • Lead team in the development and/or scale up efforts involved in co-fired electronic packaging products for the Electronics Industry.
  • Assure established and updated project plans, periodic reports and Gate Review information to allow smooth transition of new products from development through scale up to Operations.
  • Issue Monthly Progress Reports, Quarterly IMPACT Updates and other R&D Metrics as required by the business.
  • Establish effective Product Development Organization through motivation, leadership, staffing and selection and use of procedures and tools.
  • Compose and make presentations and reports to internal and external parties.
  • Set a positive example with respect to Safety and overall professional performance. Conduct regular Safety Meetings with team and assure compliance with all established standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Direct, guide, and motivate the assigned personnel and/or team.
  • May be involved with the hire selection and training.
  • Conduct Performance Evaluations of the assigned personnel and/or team, with the aim of guiding to excellence in efficiency goals, providing resources, improving skills and/or providing professional development.

Required Qualifications:

Ph.D. with 3-7 years’ experience or M.S. with 6-10 years’ experience or B.S. with > 10 years’ experience.

Travel Requirements:

Generally travel is not expected or required, but travel to customers or technical conference may occur as needed by the business.

Physical Demands: Must be in good physical condition, be able to lift up to 20 lbs, expend up to 8 hours per day standing and walking in the lab, and have good hearing and vision. Must be able to give verbal reports and short presentations of work.

Environmental, Health & Safety Requirements: This position shall maintain compliance with all Federal, State and Local Environmental, Health & Safety Regulations, at all times. The employee in this position shall maintain compliance with all Ferro Safety Standards as well as EHS rules/requirements of the site at all times.
