Job Summary
This position is responsible for the overall management and performance of a pug mill production facility, including safety, employees, repair & maintenance, output performance, raw material inventory, communication and coordination with other Cement Treated Materials (CTM) facilities, departments and staff. The position reports to the CTM Area Production Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the facility
- Ensure compliance with Martin Marietta and CTM policies & procedures with respect to safety, environmental, state and federal process regulations
- Perform all duties in a manner which promotes a safe and ethical work environment
- Coordinate with peer supervisors on daily employee scheduling and plant assignments
- Monitor and manage employee morale to a proper level
- Review and analyze operational data to evaluate and recommend changes for efficient and sustainable operation
- Ensure management is aware of trends and operational issues in a timely manner and responsible for communicating proposed solutions.
- Maintain protocols and standard work, and advise management and operations staff on necessary changes to protocols and standard work to minimize future incidents and increase sustainability, as well as oversee the implementation of corrective action
- Collaborate with Technical Services to meet product specifications and quality targets
- Participate in projects and communicate system maintenance requirements with the CTM Maintenance Department, and assist in prioritizing needs with maintenance team
- Responsible for cost control as well as achieving the maintenance and production cost targets of the facility
- Closely monitor housekeeping and initiate corrections to be made as required
- Train new employees or insure same is completed
- Monitor plant production KPIs on regular basis and coordinate necessary improvements with other departments
- Perform daily inspections on facility to identify needs and maintain detailed records of same
- Assist in the development and monitoring of procedures and programs to increase process efficiency, equipment performance, product quality and working conditions
- Identify and implement projects that improve quality and/or reduce plant operating costs in a safe, sustainable and environmentally responsible manner.
Education and/or Experience
- High School diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required)
- Experience in a production environment with a demonstratable working knowledge of repair, maintenance and process flow
- Possess a current driver’s license

- Climb up to 60 feet above ground on ladders without assistance
- Walk/stand on uneven ground, walkways and catwalks throughout the work day and an unrestricted ability to walk on level ground,
- Must be available to enter and exit confined spaces without assistance
- Crawl, kneel and climb ladders/stairs to inspect facilities and to observe work activities and examine aspects of the process equipment.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Must have the manual dexterity to use hand tools, and be able to hear
- No aversions to working in confined spaces and at heights.
Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, heat and noise from operating equipment. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; chemicals, risk of electrical shock high, precarious places and enclosed spaces and vibration.
