The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced CE System Engineer – Structures and Mechanisms to join the Kubota Engineering team at the Kubota North America R&D Center located in the new Great Plains Manufacturing CE facility in Salina, KS.

 

Job Summary

The Structures and Mechanisms Engineer will be accountable for design, development, and continuous improvement of the Compact Track Loader and Skid Steer Loader products for North America.  The position will have the responsibility of delivering innovative, robust, high-quality, cost-competitive structures to achieve project goals while collaborating and working within a cross-functional and global team environment.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design structures and mechanisms for Off-Highway Construction Equipment working in the CE new product design group.
  • Utilize existing standards, actively work to evolve and standardize methods for analyzing structures for both stress and fatigue.
  • Generate new and creative designs for the structural and mechanical systems of Kubota CE products that meet requirements of quality, cost and delivery outlined in the project objectives for each program.
  • Design of welded, pinned and bolted structures.
  • Complete complicated system tolerance stack-ups.
  • Collaborate with other members of the design team, test and evaluation, manufacturing, purchasing, quality control, etc. throughout the entire design process from concept generation to prototyping and production.
  • Create detailed design reports, 3D models and drawings based on Kubota standards.
  • Solve technical challenges related to new product design.

 

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar engineering-related field
  • Knowledge of engineering mechanics and vehicle system design: structures, mechanisms, statics, dynamics, kinematics, etc.
  • Significant record of accomplishment developing, planning, and designing structures and mechanisms within the Construction, Agricultural or Off-Highway equipment industry 
  • New product development experience 
  • Understanding of FEA analysis
  • Experience and demonstrated success working in a cross-functional and cross-cultural environment
  • Computer skills including MS Office, Google-based programs and 3D modeling
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes such as cutting, drilling, welding, forming and machining
  • Skilled in the use of engineering tools such as DFMEA, Hazard and Risk Assessments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills 
  • Flexibility to work in office, field test, and manufacturing environments
  • Availability to travel domestically and internationally as needed

 

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience with CATIA V5 highly desired 
  • Experience with Windchill highly desired
  • Forging and casting design experience
  • Experience with design for manufacturability and GD&T
  • Experience with scalable modular architectures
  • Cost estimation experience
