Description
Position Purpose:
Responsible for the professional and timely delivery of Company products and other products and other 2nd or 3rd party vendor. This is a highly visible position which requires the employee to have excellent communication skills and capable of building on customer relationships. Ensure that we meet/exceed customer expectations for timely delivery of quality product utilizing good general business practices that are in full compliance with any state or federal requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Follows all DOT regulations and guidelines. including being properly placarded, filling out required logbook and trip tickets
- Responsible for reporting all moving violations, citations and accidents immediately to the Plant Manager.
- Load and unload all deliveries in a safe and professional manner. Loads should be secured internally and externally by the driver. Insure the Bill of Lading matches the customer’s product order
- Required to wear the necessary safety equipment and clothing while delivering and handling chemicals. Must take necessary precautions to avoid bodily injury to anyone
- Responsible for performing pre-trip vehicle inspections and completing required reports. The Truck Driver will also keep required maintenance current, maintain cleanliness of vehicle and report any mechanical problems
- Will follow-up with the Plant Managers or Director of Operations to get delivery schedules
- May be required to pick up empty containers from customers; completing necessary paperwork
- Checks with customers for any problems with the products, or the Company can provide any additional product or technical assistance
- Responsible for Continuous Improvement in all aspects of production
- May be required to occasionally work evening and weekend hours as needed to ensure proper completion of duties
- Over-night travel will be required including approximately 6 – 10 overnight truck runs.
- Small plant maintenance projects will be assigned, and completed, during non-driving periods.
- All other duties as assigned
Skills:
- Requires a Class A CDL with Hazardous and Tanker Endorsement required. A current medical card and random drug testing are mandatory
- Must have a good driving record and be qualified by the Company insurance carrier
- Proficient forklift skills required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attentive and timely in responses
- Good follow up and ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously without getting flustered
- Collaborative and cooperative work style internally and externally with a “can do” attitude
- Excellent problem solver who sees solutions instead of obstacles
- Familiarity with MS Office software and strong computer skills
- Some mechanical skills required
- Excellent attendance record
Requirements
Physical Requirements:
- Able to walk regularly around the production floor and office areas, including climbing steps and also occasionally climbing on a ladder
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
- Able to bend, squat, sit and stand
- Able to drive for extended periods of time.
Work Environment:
- Driving across the USA.
- May be required to occasionally work evening, weekend hours or overnights as needed to ensure proper completion of duties
