Job Overview:

Position Summary:

 

San Antonio Armature Works, an Industrial Service Solutions company, that has an immediate opening for a CDL flatbed driver. This position requires the driver to adhere strictly to all federal, state, and local regulations while maintaining timely delivery schedules to meet customer expectations. The driver will be responsible for inspecting vehicles before and after trips to ensure safety and compliance, as well as managing documentation related to cargo and routes. Effective communication with dispatchers, customers, and team members is essential to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues that arise during transit. Ultimately, the CDL Truck Driver contributes to the seamless movement of goods that supports supply chains and commerce nationwide.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years verifiable driving experience. 
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B as required by the job.
  • Clean driving record with no recent major violations.
  • Ability to pass DOT physical examination and drug screening.
  • Knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations.
  • Proven experience operating commercial trucks safely.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and GPS navigation systems.
  • Familiarity with handling specialized cargo such as hazardous materials or oversized loads.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to manage delivery documentation accurately.
  • Previous experience in long-haul or regional trucking routes.
  • Additional endorsements on CDL such as tanker, doubles/triples, or hazardous materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate commercial trucks safely and efficiently over long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
  • Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and report any mechanical issues promptly.
  • Load and unload cargo as required, ensuring proper handling and securing of freight to prevent damage.
  • Maintain accurate logs of working hours, vehicle inspections, and delivery records in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to provide updates on delivery status and address any logistical challenges.
  • Plan routes and schedules to optimize delivery times while considering road conditions, weather, and traffic.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards and participate in ongoing training and safety programs.

Attention to detail is critical when performing vehicle inspections and securing cargo to prevent accidents and damage.
