Job Title: CDL Driver

Job Summary
This full-time position is responsible for driving a company truck from the Industrial Plant in Oelwein, IA to the depot locations in Polk City, IA, Cedar Rapids, IA or Faribault, MN. The CDL driver will deliver and pick up products between company locations, as well as move trucks at the plant. This role requires safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle, strong communication, and reliable daily attendance.
Schedule
- Schedule starting at 4:00 PM Tuesday through Friday.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Communicate promptly and effectively with the Director of Operations
- Move trucks at the plant containing clean and/or soiled laundry
- Safely transport trucks and contents between multiple company locations
- Maintain route efficiency while prioritizing safety
- Interact positively and professionally with co-workers
- Organize truck contents including invoices, paperwork, bags, rails, hanger racks, repair bags, and lockers
- Perform and document daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of assigned vehicles.
- Report maintenance needs, safety issues, or equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Monitor truck maintenance needs; report repairs, perform basic preventative maintenance, and maintain vehicle cleanliness
- Lift up to 60 pounds on a frequent basis
- Drive a commercial motor vehicle for up to 10 hours daily
- Operate company vehicles (typically Class B or Class A) in compliance with DOT regulations and company safety policies.
- Follow all DOT, OSHA, and company safety rules and procedures.
- Handle company property, customer goods, and route materials responsibly.
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
Minimum Requirements
- Clean driving record
- Valid driver’s license
- Valid CDL (Class A)
- Ability to meet DOT physical and safety requirements.
- Previous route driving or delivery experience preferred—industrial laundry experience a plus.
- Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs., push/pull heavy linen carts, and work in hot or fast-paced environments.
- Reliability, punctuality, and strong attention to detail.
- 1–2 years of job-related experience and/or customer service experience preferred
Critical Physical Demands:
Sitting:
- Frequently, in truck to drive to accounts and up to one hour to complete paperwork.
Walking:
- Occasionally, to load and unload truck. Distance varies.
Bending:
- Occasionally to retrieve fallen items. UP to 90 degrees flexion.
Trunk Rotation:
- Frequently, to load, unload, and carry laundry.
Squatting/Crouching:
- Occasionally, to pick up, sort, retrieve laundry
Climbing:
- Occasionally up and down steps in and out of truck.
Reaching out/up:
- Frequently, to load, unload laundry up to arm's length.
Grasping/Pinching/Wrist Turning:
- Continuously, to handle laundry, door handles, mats, hangers, bags, pen and paper, and to drive. Power and precision grasp.
Finger Manipulation:
- Frequently, to write and untie/tie cords on bags.
Pushing/Pulling:
- Frequently, up to 20 pounds of force to open and close truck doors, bring laundry carts to truck.
Lifting/Carrying:
- Continuously, up to 60 pounds to load and unload truck, take items to and from depots –Distance varies.
Use of Feet:
- Frequently, to operate brake and gas pedals on truck and walking to and from truck and depot.
