Job Description:

Rapid Prototype Casting Laboratory

The Rapid Prototype Casting Lab (RPCL) develops the technology and processes to manufacture advanced castings for turbine engines. These castings are enabling materials that increase the temperature capability and improve the durability of jet engine components. Through successful development of these castings, P&W will deliver engines that are more fuel efficient, lighter weight, and more durable for commercial and military applications. Develop the organization’s employees in variation reduction and process control proficiency by coaching, mentoring, and coordinate execution of required training

Lead significant projects critical to improve manufacturing process capability & quality performance

Ensure technical quality of variation reduction and process control projects. Identify gaps in project execution and engage appropriate resources to address either knowledge gaps or execution gaps to ensure projects deliver intended results

Work with team to identify and prioritize improvement initiatives to improve overall KPI’s and performance using continuous improvement tools (SIPOC, Control Tower, Market Feedback Analysis, Problem Solving, Process Analysis, etc.)

Implement key metrics and controls to track progress of improvement projects and provide regular updates

Drive Manufacturing Readiness Level activities to achieve world class process control through the value stream

Identify and eliminate process waste by continually driving a cultural shift in the organization with sustainable results

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8+ years of prior relevant experience OR
  • Advanced degree in a related field and 5+ years of prior relevant experience
  • Must have a recognized Six Sigma Green Belt certification
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to government contracts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification
  • Demonstrated proficiency leading and managing a large portfolio of cross functional projects
  • Proficiency in statistics, data analytics, DOE, and multivariate statistics
  • Strong understanding of continuous improvement skills: DFSS, Red-X, Lean, RTX CORE, etc.
  • Capable of influencing and getting cooperation and action from others
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written), work and relate with people at all levels of the organization and be self-sufficient
  • Effective team player, good coaching skills and can develop other co-workers
  • Proficiency with Minitab or other statistical software
  • Experienced in organizational and business change management and leading transformation within the operations environment
  • Demonstrated ProCert/Six Sigma project leadership/management/coaching experience
