Job Description

This position is based on a standard 40 hours work week with added overtime as required. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist contractor carpenters with wood framing, metal siding installation, door installations, cabinet and countertop installation, finish carpentry. 

• Able to adapt to work with different materials: wood, metal, stone, etc. to execute unique features. 

• Install wood and steel doors, wood and steel frames, windows, glass and glazing, wood finishes, backing and framing. Install cabinets and countertops, finishing carpentry, install mirrors and finishes.

• Depending on project timing help with other areas of construction

  • Stripping, cleaning and organizing building materials

  • Hand excavation and snow removal

  • Spreading, shoveling and raking material such as dirt, gravel and fill material

  • Landscaping

• Light duty scaffolding erection and dismantling

• Housekeeping, general cleanup and site maintenance

• Cleaning site and public areas

• May work with or near chemicals, cranes, and moving equipment

• Duties may vary depending on previous work experience

• Assembly work of construction materials and finishes

Qualifications and Skills

• Have journeyperson status or 5 year previous construction experience 

• Be in good health and physically fit

• Able to work outdoors

• Experience in commercial construction considered a plus

• Previous experience working with hand and power tools

• Able to work at heights and balance on platforms, scaffolds and decks

• Able to work alone, or as part of a team

• Display good verbal and written communication skills when working with other employees

• Hardworking and able to readily accept and apply direction from a supervisor

• Hand and finger dexterity for reaching, handling and feeling while working

• Able to regularly lift and move 30 pound objects during a shift

• Equipment operation experience. Certification considered a plus.
